College Prep Program

The Sikh Gurdwara San Jose ( has decided to launch a new academic
initiative namely; College Prep Program (CPP) from January 15, 2023. The primary objective of CPP is to
make sure that all Sikh students in Santa Clara and its neighboring counties of Santa Cruz, Monterey, San
Mateo, Contra Costa, and San Benito are empowered to get a college degree after finishing high school.
The College Prep Program (CPP) will cover students who are in middle or high school by providing them
with English and Math tutoring to enable them for college admissions. In addition, coaching will be
provided for college application and essay writing.
We are presently sending surveys home to the GNKS alumni and current students to identify the
students who need tutoring. In addition, we are recruiting bright high school senior students, college
students and professionals to serve as tutors, mentors and role models for our middle and high school
students. These volunteers will earn community service hours. In addition, we will hire some trained and
experienced teachers to guide the volunteer tutors.
